Stop signs are everywhere. They are commonly located at intersections without traffic signals, areas with high volumes of traffic, and areas that are prone to traffic accidents. As the name implies, these bright red and white signs tell drivers to come to a complete stop before continuing on their way.
The Problem
We were recently approached by a customer at a shopping mall near Chicago, IL who was looking for a solution to a specific traffic issue that they were having. The standard stop signs located at the intersections on the road around the mall were not visible enough and therefore were being completely disregarded by drivers.
The Solution
We worked with the customer to create a stop sign unit that was not only more noticeable, but was also more appealing to the eye. For maximum visibility, the new stop sign unit featured solar powered LED blinkers located above and below the standard stop sign.To upgrade the appearance of the unit, the stop sign was framed with a custom backing plate and then mounted to a powder coated, black, round post.
The Results
Since the installation of the new stop sign units, the customer has noticed a dramatic decline in the amount of drivers neglecting to stop at the intersections. By implementing the LED blinkers, the new units have heightened drivers’ awareness and made the shopping mall a safer place to visit.
