As you can imagine, the frigid temperatures and mounds of snow make it very difficult to stripe a parking lot. For that reason, much of our work focus turns from exterior pavement markings to interior floor markings during the winter months.
Long Term Warehouse Floor Markings
When a customer comes to us looking for a long term warehouse floor marking solution, we give them exactly that. We start by preparing the concrete surface for paint by means of shot-blasting. Small metal beads etch the concrete surface, giving it texture to which the paint can properly bond. Our next step is to apply epoxy paint to the etched surface. Finally, the paint must dry and cure for 24 hours. For many warehouses, this procedure is a great option. For others….not so much.
Challenges
In some situations, the above interior floor marking procedure can’t logistically be done. For instance:
- The property owner doesn’t allow etching or painting in the warehouse.
- The warehouse regularly changes their floor marking configuration, which could lead to costly line removal.
- The warehouse contains food products which can’t be exposed to fumes.
- The warehouse can’t afford downtime while waiting for paint to dry and cure.
- The warehouse has a cold environment that doesn’t allow for paint applications.
