The Otto’s Sign Process: Step One
The sign process at Otto’s can be broken down in to three different parts: ordering, production, and installation. For the ordering process our customers can expect to work with one of our experienced Sales Representatives who will assess your parking lot and give you their recommendation on what signage you may need. Otto’s is able to do custom signage as well if you are looking for something more distinct for your property.
Step Two:
Step two is the production process. For customized signs Otto’s works directly with our graphic designer. Depending on the complexity, certain artwork and logos need to be digitally printed before being applied to the sign. During this process the aluminum sheeting for the backing plate is cut to the appropriate size and shape based on the sign that will be mounted to it. Also, all sign posts are cut to their required length. The backing plates, sign posts and finials are then powder coated in a color of the customers choosing. Finally, the sign pieces are wrapped in plastic and packaged to either be shipped, delivered or installed. At this time, the work is now ready to be scheduled.
Step Three:
Step three is the installation process. Once the sign installation work is on the schedule, we immediately make a phone call to Indiana 811 informing them of our intent to dig. Indiana 811 gathers the location and description of the project to inform local utility companies. Professional locators are then sent to the project site to mark the approximate locations of underground utilities.
When our crew arrives at the job site, they start by digging holes approximately 36″ deep. Each sign post is then placed into the appropriate holes and set in place with concrete. Next, the signs are assembled onto their respective backing plates and then mounted to the sign posts. Finally, decorative finials are added to the top of the posts. Before leaving the job site, our crew wipes down the signs and posts. They also clean up any debris and dirt left over from the digging.
